It was only on the Tuesday before rounds 11 and 12 that he secured the necessary support to ensure his drive with the HS Technik Team. His two wins at Nurburgring have enabled him to close the gap to championship leader Peter Elkman, 108 points to 72.
The Dublin driver has scored four wins out of 10 races. He has two more races this Sunday at Assen, in the Netherlands, where he tasted success last year.
Boosted by his three wins at Mondello Park, Damien Faulkner can consolidate his lead in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB in rounds 13 and 14 at Snetterton this weekend. However, the Donegal driver will be up against reigning champion Richard Westbrook.
On the home front, the battle for the Dunlop National Rally Championship is down to a race between Kilkenny's Ray Breen and English driver Jim Harrison. With four rounds to run, Sunday's Tipperary Stonethrowers Rally is a crucial one for the leaders.
