All-Ireland Champoinship Team news: Tyrone's disastrous injury list continued over the weekend when captain Brian Dooher damaged his ankle playing for his club Clan Na nGael making him a serious doubt to make the Ulster Championship tie against Down on May 22nd.
Dooher already damaged ankle ligaments this year but the injury picked up in the defeat to Omagh is not related.
"At this stage, with so little time before the Down game, it is quite serious," said Tyrone manager Mickey Harte. "He is receiving regular physio from Louis O'Connor and we're just going to have to see how things develop over the next couple of days."
Brian McGuigan will not be back from Australia in time for Sunday week's match at Healy Park. Stephen O'Neill, Tyrone's best player throughout the National League campaign, has recovered from injury although full back Chris Lawn suffered a dead leg also playing club football.
The Ulster Championship begins on Sunday in Clones with a repeat of last year's memorable All-Ireland quarter-final between Fermanagh and Armagh.
Armagh manager Joe Kernan will announce a side tomorrow with Fermanagh's Charlie Mulgrew holding off until Thursday to allow All-Star duo Barry Owens and Martin McGrath further time to recover. This match will be televised live on RTÉ 2 at 2.15pm.
Galway manager Peter Ford has named six of the under-21 All-Ireland winning team in the senior panel that travels to New York this Friday ahead of Sunday's Connacht championship tie at Gaelic Park. It includes Seán Armstrong and Michael Meehan who both scored a hat-trick in Saturday's victory over Down.
Three of that side, Alan Burke, Brian O'Donoghue and Paul Geraghty are out due to exam commitments. However, Michael Donnellan, Richie Fahy and Seán Óg De Paor are available for selection with Kevin Brady an injury concern. Ford will not use the trip as a training camp, unlike Mayo who last year travelled to the Catskills. The throw-in is at 8pm Irish time.
The other televised match this weekend is the Munster Hurling Championship opener between Limerick and Tipperary from Semple Stadium, Thurles.
Hugh Moloney, Micheal Webster and Evan Sweeney are all struggling with hamstring injuries and are considered doubtful for Tipperary, while Limerick may be without Seán O'Connor and Dave Ryan.
All four Leinster teams taking part in the double header at Croke Park will select starting line-ups tonight.
Dublin have a clean bill of health but opponents Longford are struggling to field anything close to full strength. David Blessington and Liam Keenan are out injured but Niall Sheridan has declared himself fit.
Trevor Smullen is serving a two-month suspension as a result of the referee's report from the league match against Monaghan.
"Trevor has not received a yellow card in 11-years playing for Longford," said manager Luke Dempsey, "so there is a sense of injustice from the whole affair. At least he will be back for the next championship game. We have introduced a lot of new players so it is going to be a big ask for a young and inexperienced team against the favourites. At least it will give a clear picture of where we are."
Kildare manager Padraig Nolan prepares for a new-look Wicklow without Derek McCormack and Alan McLoughlan.
