University of Limerick, who included several prominent intercounty players, made a better start and led by three points to one after 12 minutes and they were four points to two in front after 23 minutes, when Padraig Gallagher of Doonbeg was sent off.
UL's Aidan McGearailt was sent off for a second bookable offence two minutes into the second half. The only goal came after 39 minutes after a long ball by Francis McInerney was fisted to the net by Gerry Killeen. Doonbeg had Kieran Byrne's sent off for a second bookable offence 11 minutes from the end, but they held on. They play Moyle Rovers in the final.
