Oliver Sherwood seems to have found the key to Callisoe Bay, and the eight-year-old can further advertise his well-being with victory in the Betterware Cup at Ascot today. Callisoe Bay has made a perfect start to the current campaign, and the Callernish gelding goes into the £35,000added event looking to complete a hat-trick after victories at Uttoxeter and Newbury.
Callisoe Bay can, in fact, complete a big race double for the Lambourn yard represented 35 minutes earlier by Large Action in the Grade One Smurfit Long Walk Hurdle.
The nine-year-old renews last week's rivalry with Pridwell and Bimsey in the £42,500-added event.
Pridwell came out best last Saturday, finishing a 1 3/4-length second to Relkeel with Large Action around nine lengths back in sixth and Bimsey a further 14 lengths away last.
But like Callisoe Bay, Large Action can benefit from the step up in trip.
