A goal from Emma Dowling 10 minutes into the game gave Trinity victory over UCD in the annual Colours match at Belfield yesterday.
Dowling got a touch on a pass from Anya Bowers to force the ball high over UCD goalkeeper Sarah Hooper and despite several near misses from both sides it proved to be the game's only score.
Trinity had the better of the match, applying the greater pressure, and forced a series of second-half short corners, from which they came close to doubling their lead. UCD, however, felt a little hard done by when they seemed to have a reasonable penalty stroke appeal turned down five minutes from time.
Jenny Osborne, who had earlier seen a superb attempt on goal deflected narrowly wide, appeared to be obstructed en route to goal but still managed to get in a shot which was blocked by Trinity goalkeeper Barbara Sheehy-Skeffington. Trinity were unbeaten in all six of the day's games against their old rivals, winning the fifths game and drawing the rest.
