Drogheda United...2 Cobh Ramblers...0The inadequate defending that's plagued them all season proved Cobh Ramblers undoing as their season ended at O2 Park on Saturday night with Drogheda clinically punishing errors to book their passage through to this week's promotion/relegation play-off final with Galway United.
Drogheda's slowly took control of the game to run up a 2-0 match winning lead by the break.
The first goal arrived on 25 minutes from Declan O'Brien. An unforced error by Cobh captain Mark Clifford let Drogheda in for the second goal.
Clifford passed the ball straight to Shaun Gallagher, who cut past a defender, played a one-two with Myler, before finding the bottom right corner of net from the edge of the area.
DROGHEDA UNITED: Rogers; Dunne, Lynch, Gray, Cronin; Gallagher (Quinless 78 mins.), O'Connor, Tierney, Dempsey; O'Brien, Myler.
COBH RAMBLERS: Slattery; Hastings, O'Donovan, Brosnan, White; Coker (Kabia 75 mins.),Clifford, Hill, Yelverton; McGregor, Bruton.
Referee: P. Whelan (Dublin).
Meanwhile, despite going down 1-0 to Finn Harps in Ballybofey, Galway United booked their place in the play-off with a 2-1 aggregate win over the Donegal side.
Donal O'Brien's winner after 30 minutes just wasn't enough for Harps, who trailed 2-0 from Wednesday's first leg at Galway.
The first leg of the Drogheda - Galway United final will be at Terryland Park on Wednesday and the second leg at O2 Park on Saturday night.
