Munster MFC/Clare 1-06 Cork 0-08: Substitute Chris Dunning struck a 52nd-minute goal to give Clare an unexpected victory over Cork in a tightly-contested opening round Munster minor clash at a wet and windy Kilmallock, yesterday.
Cork would have fancied their prospects at the halfway stage when, after playing into the elements, they trailed by a solitary point, 0-5 to 0-4.
Seán O'Connell extended Clare's advantage, but Chris O'Driscoll and Fiachra Lynch (two) scored points to engineer a Cork lead for the first time, and they looked to be on their way when Lynch put more distance between the sides. Dunning, however, tipped the balance back and Cork were then thwarted by their stubborn opponents.
