ASHBOURNE have appointed John Dwyer as professional at the club. The contract was signed by the chairman Joe O'Keeffe last Friday and John hopes to be up and running in time for the captain's drive-in on Sunday. A popular appointment, John, a native of Ashbourne, comes from a well known Meath sporting family. His brother is former National Hunt jockey Mark. John will carry the Ashbourne colours in this year's Murphy's Irish Open, having qualified through his top 10 finish in the order of merit last year.
