Emmanuel Petit is fit and back in full training but Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he is unlikely to risk him even as a substitute against Everton. Wenger will field Petit's French compatriot Patrick Vieira, sent off at West Ham 12 days ago. Tony Adams, Martin Keown, Dennis Bergkamp and Lee Dixon, who missed the League Cup win over Preston, are set to return and Marc Overmars, a substitute in midweek, should also start.
David Unsworth will return to Everton's squad after recovering from a shoulder injury that has kept him out of three matches. Mark Pembridge has still not fully recovered from an ankle problem. Richard Dunne is out with a tendon problem, and Tommy Johnson will probably be on the bench. Don Hutchison is expected to be moved up front to partner Kevin Campbell on his return to Highbury, with Francis Jeffers out following his hernia operation.

England youth striker John Piercy retains his place in the Spurs squad but may drop down to substitute if Norwegian star Steffen Iversen passes a late fitness test. Iversen returned to Spurs with a heel injury after playing for Norway last weekend. Les Ferdinand is still recovering from an ankle operation and Darren Anderton is sidelined long-term with Achilles trouble.

Rebel Italian striker Benito Carbone is again in the squad but is unlikely to figure in the 16 for the game.

Hughes missed the midweek League Cup win over Liverpool through suspension while Boa Morte had a hamstring injury. Matthew Oakley (back) and Stuart Ripley (calf) are doubtful while Marian Pahars is expected to recover from a thigh injury suffered in midweek.

Gianluca Vialli is sure to replenish his first team for the trip to Liverpool after an under-strength side were beaten by First Division Huddersfield in midweek. The Blues manager has everyone fit, including Roberto di Matteo.
