Saturday

Cambridge Utd v Bolton

Cambridge striker Martin Butler has recovered from a leg injury sustained in training earlier this week and is due to start. Manager Roy McFarland is set to name his strongest line-up against his old club.

Bolton are without Mark Fish, who is away on international duty with South Africa, and Allan Johnston - signed on a month's loan this week from Sunderland - is cup-tied. Ricardo Gardner plays his last game before joining the Jamaican squad for the Gold Cup tournament. Gareth Farrelly is eligible to play, as are full-back John O'Kane and on-loan defender Paul Ritchie. Goalkeeper Keith Branagan is unlikely to play despite recovering from the ankle injury that has kept him out since October.

Coventry v Charlton

Coventry are expected to make one change. Carlton Palmer, who missed last weekend's Premiership match at Derby through suspension, will resume in midfield. John Eustace or Gavin Strachan will be left out to accommodate his return.

Andy Hunt has recovered from a flu scare in time to line up for Charlton, and captain Mark Kinsella has been passed fit after missing last week's 3-0 win at Norwich when he was taken ill in the dressing room just before kick-off. New £600,000 signing Mathias Svensson is cup-tied.

Everton v Preston

John Collins is a doubt for Everton because of an ankle injury. If Collins doesn't make it, Scotland team-mate Scot Gemmill could fill in. Manager Walter Smith is set to re-instate Norwegian goalkeeper Thomas Myhre for his first game of the season because of Paul Gerrard's injury.

Preston striker Bjarki Gunnlaugsson has been given clearance to play after it was thought he would be away on international duty with Iceland, while striker Steve Basham and midfielder Paul McKenna both came through a midweek reserve clash and could start on the bench. Michael Appleton, Lee Cartwright and Sean Gregan are all expected to play despite having picked up knocks last week.

Fulham v Tranmere

Barry Hayles returns from a three-game suspension to boost a Fulham side who have not won since their 3-0 FA Cup victory over Wimbledon. Alan Neilson and Sean Davis are also fit again for the fifth-round tie, but Geoff Horsfield and Rufus Brevett are both injured.

Tranmere are without suspended duo Gareth Roberts and Clint Hill and Steve Yates, who has a thigh injury. But Alan Morgan is back from a ban, and Wayne Allison - cup-tied on Wednesday - is available again.

Gillingham v Sheff Wed

Peter Taylor has two injury worries in the Gillingham camp. Adrian Pennock and Mark Saunders have picked up knocks which have prevented them from training this week, and Taylor is waiting to see how the pair react before finalising his team.

Sheffield Wednesday could be without Gilles De Bilde, who is doubtful with a knock picked up in training. Alan Quinn could be out after sustaining tonsillitis this week, which could leave the way clear for Petter Rudi to make his long-awaited return from an Achilles injury. Andy Booth is still sidelined by a groin problem.

Last season: No corresponding fixture.

Top scorers: Andy Thomson (Gillingham) 11, Gilles De Bilde (Sheff Wed) 8.

Sunday

Aston Villa v Leeds

Striker Benito Carbone returns after being cup-tied for the League Cup semi-final first-leg meeting with Leicester City. He rejoins Julian Joachim in attack, with Paul Merson moving back into midfield. Villa's main concern centres around midfielder Ian Taylor, who is battling to shake off the ankle injury he suffered against Leicester.

Leeds striker Alan Smith returns from a one-match suspension but is likely to have to settle for a place on the bench, with Harry Kewell and Michael Bridges up front. Midfielder David Hopkin starts a three-match ban, and Lucas Radebe remains on African Nations Cup duty.

Last season: No corresponding fixture.

Top scorers: Dion Dublin (Aston Villa) 12, Michael Bridges (Leeds) 14.

Match odds: H 8-4, A 6-5, D 9-4.

Referee: G Barber (Tring).

Chelsea v Leicester

Gianluca Vialli is hoping that centre-back Marcel Desailly will return from a groin injury. Jes Hogh is on stand-by if Desailly is ruled out. Emerson Thome is cup-tied, but George Weah is eligible and Albert Ferrer is in contention following an ankle problem, while Dan Petrescu should also be fit again. Celestine Babayaro is still away at the African Nations Cup, while Graeme Le Saux and Roberto Di Matteo are long-term casualties.

Muzzy Izzet (calf) and Steve Guppy (knee) are injury worries for Leicester. Emile Heskey has recovered from a dead leg, but Stefan Oakes has not trained since picking up a similar injury against Aston Villa on Tuesday. Neil Lennon (hamstring) and Tony Cottee (calf) are making good progress but are unlikely to be involved. Darren Eadie, cup-tied at Villa, is available again, and Phil Gilchrist is fit after having stitches in a facial wound.

Last season: No corresponding fixture.

Top scorers: Tore Andre Flo (Chelsea) 13, Tony Cottee and Muzzy Izzet (Leicester) 9.
