USAIN TAKES REST OF YEAR OFF: Munich, August 10– I am very disappointed to miss two of the top meetings on the circuit – Zurich & Brussels – but trust that it is better for me not to take any risks this year. 2011 and 2012 are very important championship years and I hope to be back fully fit and healthy. I would like to thank everyone for their support and look forward to coming back stronger next year.

May PenWatched the first bit of the Diamond League meeting from London last night. Man, you're missed. No offence, Tyson Gay, but we want to see the Lightning Bolt. And what is the Diamond League anyway? It's not making any sense. I haven't seen any diamonds. It's hard to know where the league begins and ends. Is there actually going to be a winner? Bring back the Golden League, I say. And there's only so much of those British athletes I can handle anyway.

Wellesley TrelawnySaw you run the 100 in Lausanne on July 8th. 9.82, easing up, as usual. Only Asafa has matched that. Saw you run the 200 in 19.56 in Kingston on May 1st. No one has come close to that. Saw you run the 300 in 30.97 seconds in Ostrava on May 27th. The second fastest ever. Saw you run the 4x100 in 37.90 at Penn Relays on April 24th. Fastest in the world this year. Saw you run a split of 43.58 in the 4x400 at Gibson Relays on February 27th.
And they’re telling me you’ve had a poor season? You rock so, you rock so, you’re still are the fastest man on earth.
From all your fans.

Richie KentuckyIf you can't run you must be trying to hide. My friend always thought you were too good to be true. 9.58? 19.19?? When are we going to see those sort of times again, eh? You agree? Maybe all those chicken nuggets have caught up with you.

Montego BayOn behalf of the IAAF here's wishing you a speedy recovery and, more importantly, a speedy return to the track. We all know you're the only athlete we have left that can actually put bums on seats. Our budget deficit for 2010, which had earlier been forecast at $16 million, is now around $9 million after some big cuts and luckily a big deal sealed in June with electronics giant Samsung to sponsor the Diamond League. But they expected you to be on the track as much as we did. Hurry back. We love you, Usain. We really do. Especially here at the IAAF.

Tom Kingstonremember me bro, from the Yaam Club in Berlin this time last year? You jammin' on the DJ stage with three gold medals in your pocket. Sweet as, bro, sweet as the ganja out on Discovery Bay. But no more booga-wooga. Jah put the Heathen back there 'pon the wall. That Dr Hans Muller-Wohlfahrt is no Dr Feelgood.
What doesn’t kill you might make you stronger, but this back injury will kill you if you don’t strengthen it up. Man, you’re getting tipsy. Kinky reggae, take it or leave it.
Because we ain’t ever gonna see your likes again.

Ocho RiosJust reading today's Gleaner and they're telling me you're going to lose 53 million of our finest Jamaican dollars by not finishing out the season. That also tells me this back injury might be a little more serious that they're playing it out to be. You're 23 years old but your career could be over as quick as it began if you don't stir it up. Hear what you gonna do? Make running your No. 1 priority again. C'mon Ricky Simms, pull your man together.

Red StripeCheer up, we got the Soul Skakedown Party at the Animal House next Monday. You on, soul rebel? Sun is shining. Go tell it on the mountain. If you can't run you can always dance. $5 entry. No concessions.

Portland BrightSaw the race in Stockholm last Friday and obvious you were not on. What happened that form? Terrible. No expert on sprinting but wondering if this is the beginning of the end. You don't run 9.58 seconds without stressing something. You know you hit 27.45 mph in Berlin that night? And you definitely don't run 19.19 without straining the back.
I’m hoping I’m wrong but maybe you are human after all. Suddenly the London Olympics look wide open again. I’ve just put a few quid on Mr Gay, actually.

Savanna la MarTo Di World, you like to pose? That's what you had on your vest last weekend when Tyson Gay gunned you down in Stockholm. 9.84 to 9.94. Who didn't see this coming?
I saw it once you starting peddling your own Bolt Collection. Nice colours, true, and nice pic of you riding on the lion. But stay outta the Rat Race. When the cats away, the mice will play.
Don’t forget your history. Know your destiny.

Antonio PortThe athletics season has just died a sudden death. Munich and Brussels will be a pale shadow of the meetings they would have been had you been running. Just when we thought you'd saved the sport you've gone and left it hanging again. If you don't make it back for the World Championships next summer in that far-off never-heard-of Korean town then we can all throw our hat at it, as Jerry Kiernan would say.
