Shamrock Rovers v Shelbourne (Tolka Park, 7.45)Monday's first instalment has hit double-winners Shelbourne hardest, as they're now without captain and defensive mainstay Pat Scully through suspension and midfielder Jim Crawford who strained his back.
Striker Richie Foran, who squandered three chances to win the first match, is also a doubt for Shelbourne with strains to his groin and an Achilles. That could leave manager Dermot Keely with a big headache up front as Stephen Geoghegan is still out with a knee injury and Stephen Grant is cup-tied.
Avery John should deputise for Scully in central defence while Davy Byrne or Paul Doolin, 38 this week, will come in to partner Pat Fenlon in central midfield.
"I was delighted with our performance in the first game," said Keely. "I thought we played really well and created enough chances to have won two games."
Rovers may rejig things slightly with manager Damien Richardson toying with the idea of starting Derek Tracey in central midfield. Marc Kenny, also back from injury, may also be in contention to resume on the right.
