The Republic of Ireland have extended their contract with sportswear manufacturers Umbro until the year 2002. FAI president Pat Quigley revealed that Mick McCarthy's men will continue to wear kits supplied by the Manchester-based company despite rival bids from some of the world's largest sports brands.
"Umbro are totally dedicated to football and have been the perfect commercial partner for the FAI over the course of the past four years," said Quigley. "Whilst it is true to say that we received a number of tenders for the contract to supply kit for our international teams, it was Umbro's total package and commitment that was the deciding factor. We are delighted to continue our relationship."
