Connacht Colleges SF quarter-finalSt Patrick's Tuam 2-5 St Jarlath's Tuam 0-8 Wesley Fallon was the St Patrick's hero as they defeated their local rivals St Jarlath's in a thrilling Connacht colleges senior football quarter-final at Tuam Stadium yesterday.
Midfielder Fallon struck an injury-time blow as St Patrick's scored their first win in 10 years against St Jarlath's, who have won 12 Hogan Cup titles and 44 Connacht crowns.
A goal from Declan Walsh for St Patrick's gave them a great platform although the accurate free-taking of the St Jarlath's duo Shane Curtin and Barry Donovan saw the score level at half-time - 0-5 to 1-2.
St Jarlath's edged two points in front after the restart but two superb efforts from St Patrick's full forward Ger Raftery set up a gripping finish.
The score remained the same until Fallon collected a long delivery from Alan Tierney before shooting home the match-winner in injury-time and ensure bragging rights for St Patrick's for the next 12 months.
