Shane Harmon equalled his own course record of one-under-par 70 at Killorglin to win the Christmas Hamper on Sunday

Shane Harmon equalled his own course record of one-under-par 70 at Killorglin to win the Christmas Hamper on Sunday. The three-handicap student made several mistakes in the round but a brilliant run of six birdies in 10 holes from the third enabled him to return 40 points for a two-shot victory.

The Harmon family have things pretty much wrapped up at the Co Kerry club. Shane's younger brother Damien Harmon finished fifth to secure the Golfer of the Year title and the brothers were in direct opposition in Saturday's foursomes matchplay final. Shane Harmon and partner Shane Horgan won that at the 18th completing a notable double for Horgan who had previously defeated Peter Fleming in the singles decider.

It's hardly surprising the Harmon boys are faring so well as their father Barry is the greenkeeper and also next year's captain. Their mother, Joan Harmon, plays as well and finished third in the women's hamper.
