Racing: Mark Johnston and Joe Fanning were in top form at Haydock Park yesterday and completed a 23 to 1 treble with Great Scott, Fisio Therapy and Cake It Easy at the Merseyside course.

Great Scott made virtually all the running to get the Middleham duo off the mark in the Astley Green Maiden Auction Stakes.

Then having led three furlongs out Fisio Therapy stuck to his task in admirable fashion to take the Jayne Abley 40th Birthday Celebration Maiden Stakes.

Cake It Easy was due a change of luck, but she had to work hard in the very testing ground to see off her rivals in the Haydock Park Badge Maiden Fillies' Stakes.

Johnston was taking his score for the year to 32, and he went on: "It has been a great day for Joe and the stable - but it hasn't changed things overnight, I think the horses have been in pretty good form all season.

"Even when people were saying we were having a slow start the horses were running well, they weren't finishing down the field, but I would like to think that this was an indication that they are really going to sparkle."
