Derry City 4 Cobh Ramblers 2:DERRY CITY'S leading hitman, Mark Farren, finally put this game to bed at the Brandywell last night, the striker's 83rd-minute effort ending the contest when the home side led 3-2.
Farren broke the deadlock after just five minutes when diverting Niall McGinn's low cross to the net. And Derry doubled their lead when Kevin Deery drilled a low shot to the net from 30 yards in the 18th minute.
Five minutes later Deery turned provided to put Niall McGinn through for the third goal.
Cobh reduced the deficit before the break when striker Ross Gaynor found the net, and they were rewarded for continuing to battle when striker Davin O'Neill made it 3-2 on 68 minutes.
But Derry's nerves were settled when Farren netted his second.
