Sports DigestFormula One: Ralph Firman made a confident start to life as a Formula One driver yesterday as he tested the Jordan-Ford for the first time in Valencia.
The 27-year-old, who last week signed a three-year deal with the Silverstone-based team, completed 73 laps of the Spanish track in the EJ13.
"It went well and I'm really happy," said Firman, whose previous F1 experience has amounted to around 60 laps.
"I had no problems in the cockpit, there's enough room for my legs no problem," said Firman, who will make his debut in Melbourne on March 7th-9th.

Irish amateur Tommy Evans may have the chance to land the first professional contract following his strong showing in the Tour de Langkawi last week.
The 29-year-old impressed in taking four top 20 places on stages of the Malaysian Tour, including sixth and eighth, but also worked hard for tipped rider Simone Mori during the race.
Both riders were guesting on the Telekom team, and now Mori has indicated he is planning to ask his Nippon Hodo team director to take on Evans as team sprinter.
