Jerry Flannery's Six Nations availability will be decided tomorrow by an ERC disciplinary panel in Dublin, while London Irish captain Bob Casey has been cited for stamping in last Saturday's 24-11 win over Benetton Treviso.
Casey and Declan Danaher are both cited for stamping or trampling, under law 10.4b, while a third team-mate, Dan Murphy, faces a tripping charge (law 10.4d).
All three are, however, unlikely to miss the Exiles' first ever European Cup quarter-final, on April 5th. The worst-case scenario looks like suspension for a couple of domestic matches.
Julian White finds himself in a similar position after being cited for punching Malcolm O'Kelly, at least three times, in the Leicester Tigers' 25-9 win over Leinster at Welford Road on Saturday.
After consulting his touch judge, referee Christophe Berdos deemed a yellow card was sufficient punishment. The citing commissioner clearly disagrees.
But since White has retired from Test rugby and Leicester are out of Europe a domestic sanction is the only one possible.
Flannery's situation is more precarious. If the hooker is found guilty of stamping on the Clermont flanker Julien Bonnaire, even the minimum suspension could apply to the Six Nations.
The disciplinary committee, chaired by Christopher Quinlan (England) and including Roger Morris (Wales) and John Doubleday (England), may decide to backdate any ban to January 13th, when the incident occurred.
Even then, a four-week ban would rule Flannery out of the games against Italy and France.
Clermont's Alexandre Audebert is due in front of the same panel tomorrow, cited twice, for stamping on Ronan O'Gara and punching Alan Quinlan.
And the Wasps hooker Raphaël Ibañez is cited for stamping on the Llanelli Scarlets flanker Simon Easterby on January 13th.
