Foreign Affairs can allay any stamina fears with victory in the £185,000 Tote Ebor at York today.

The Mark Prescott-trained three-year-old will be tackling 14 furlongs for the first time in Europe's richest handicap but, with the going drying out, this classy individual can take the step up in trip in his stride.

Foreign Affairs ran like a colt who would appreciate further when coming from well behind to win the John Smith's Cup over an extended 10 furlongs on the Knavesmire last month.

He lost his position in the early stages of the race and had plenty to do turning for home but experienced jockey George Duffield bided his time and produced Foreign Affairs to challenge a furlong out.

Showing a good turn of foot, the son of Hernando settled the issue in a matter of strides to beat Man O'Mystery by one and three-quarter lengths.

Foreign Affairs landed a gamble that day and is sure to be well supported again today.

Earlier on the card, Mot Juste can give Newmarket trainer Ed Dunlop another big-race success in the Aston Upthorpe Yorkshire Oaks. Dunlop, who is enjoying his best season, saddled both the first and second in last month's Kildangan Stud Irish Oaks when Mot Juste was caught close home and beaten a neck by Lailani.

The winner has since gone on to land another Group One victory in the Vodafone Nassau Stakes at Goodwood so the Curragh form appears well up to Classic standard.

The main threat to Mot Juste may come from the four-year-old Sacred Song but, with the faster conditions working against Henry Cecil's filly, she may have to play second fiddle to her younger rival.

John Gosden holds Waldenburg in high regard and the son of Miswaki can confirm his trainer's opinion by landing the Scottish Equitable Gimcrack Stakes.

Waldenburg beat subsequent Newmarket winner Dubai Destination by a short head at Newbury in June despite showing signs of greenness and, after the success, Gosden described the colt as a "proper horse". He is sure to have come on in leaps and bounds for his debut.

Muja Farewell showed tremendous early pace to win a hot handicap at Ascot in June but she disappointed on a return visit to the Berkshire track three weeks later when she was carried right at a crucial stage.

With the assistance of top jockey Michael Kinane, the David Barron-trained filly can make amends in the Falmouth Handicap.

Aidan O'Brien sends a strong team over and with Kinane in the plate has every chance with Karsavina, Snowflake, Mediterranean and Della Francesca.
