Two good friends, Mark McCloskey and John O'Gorman, were on opposite sides of the fence when they met in the final of the McCrae Cup at Dun Laoghaire on Sunday. Both players are members of the Sandyford Golfing Society and neither was aware that the other had qualified for the McCrae Cup at their respective clubs St Margaret's and Arklow.

Drawn in opposite halves of the competition, McCloskey came through with comfortable wins over another St Margaret's player, Brud Foy in the semi-final while O'Gorman birdied the 18th and 19th in his semi-final win. In the final McCloskey was always in control against his friend winning 4 and 3.
