The GAA continues to grow in status as an influencing body around the country and under a new partnership with the North Eastern Health Board it will now be marketed as a "health promoting lifestyle". Indeed, this is not the game that we once knew.
Representatives from the four county boards of Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan meet with the Health Board recently to discuss the benefits of a new programme that will promote Gaelic games as a route to healthy living. The programme will focus on promoting healthy lifestyles and reducing the number of people smoking, especially young people. It is hoped that a number of players from each of the counties will participate in the new programme which is also aimed at increasing awareness of the effects of drug misuse and alcohol abuse.
