Prior to their irresistible play-off displays, the approach to the league was lower-key and injury and club commitments allowed Jim Gavin an expansive selection policy. Ciaran Kilkenny's loss can be offset by the return of Alan Brogan and Cormac Costello. Open-plan defensive policy at times a concern but they have a better choice of forwards, more extensive bench options and more gears than any of their rivals.
