Raymond Gallagher gave a superb display of point-taking as Fermanagh secured a winning start to the league with a well merited four point victory over visiting Sligo at Enniskillen.
Gallagher scored ten points of his side's total with several of his scores coming from long range.
The game's only goal came in the 21st minute and the sharp-thinking Gallagher also had a hand in that as he cleverly flicked the ball on to Sean Quinn and the full forward slotted home his ground kick. Quinn fisted over a point in Fermanagh's next raid and at the interval the Erne men led by 1-8 to 0-7. That lead was stretched immediately on the restart with a point each from Martin Greene and Gallagher and Fermanagh were very much in the driving seat.
Sligo worked very hard especially in the closing 15 minutes with scores coming from Tommy Brennan, Sean Davey and Paul Taylor but a solid Fermanagh defence which had full backs Paddy McGuinness and Paul Courtney prominent, absorbed most of the pressure.
