ROSCOMMON footballers gained some measure of revenge for their recent, National League defeat at the hands of Galway when they, recorded a comprehensive 1-10 to 0-7 win over their neighbours in the FBD Connacht Football League yesterday.
Galway fielded a largely experimental side, however, and after leading 0-5 to 0-4 at the break, they fell behind to a Gerry Cregg goal 11 minutes into the second half.
Roscommon went on to score, five points on the trot to run out easy winners with midfielder Tom Ryan giving an outstanding display.
Mayo recorded two victories in this competition over the weekend. They had comfortable 3-11 to 0-10 victory over Leitrim in at Cloone on Saturday and yesterday they defeated Sligo by 2-12 to 2-7.
On Saturday, Mayo's Diarmuid Byrne was the outstanding forward on view and scored 2-4. Kieran McDonald also impressed in attack for Mayo.
