Women's Football NFL Quarter-finals: All-Ireland champions Galway marched on to the National Football League semi-finals yesterday following a 3-9 to 2-10 victory over Dublin at Castledaly.
A repeat of last year's All-Ireland final, John O'Leary's side failed to gain revenge as Galway booked a date with Monaghan. Waterford will meet Cork in the second semi-final after the sides enjoyed victories over Mayo and Roscommon, respectively.
Not for the first time in this league campaign - Monaghan's rising starlet Aisling Tierney put in the performance of the day as the Farney County beat Meath, 4-14 to 1-10 at Clontibret.
The 19-year-old scoring sensation fired a personal tally of 4-3 yesterday to destroy the Royals. Her opening two goals came in the ninth and 13th minutes and the Clones girl completed her hat-trick only minutes into the second half, before tagging on a fourth later. Mary Sheridan scored a fantastic consolation goal for Meath 10 minutes into the second half.
A rejuvenated Waterford chalked up an extra-time victory over defending champions Mayo in Portumna, 3-8 to 2-10. In the last quarter-final, Cork easily defeated Roscommon in Nenagh - 5-12 to 0-7.
There were also relegation play-offs yesterday. In the Division One play-off, Kerry retained their top-flight status by consigning 2004 All-Ireland junior champions Kildare to relegation with an extra-time victory, 5-16 to 3-17.
