Galway have made two changes for Sunday's visit of Dublin to Athenry in the Church & General National Hurling League. Already looking good for a semi-final place after two wins against Offaly and Clare, the Connacht champions are anxious to give as many players as possible an opportunity in the competition.

Manager Matt Murphy has decided to alternate the goal-keeping position, so Nigel Murray, the Limerick IT player who impressed on his league debut against Offaly, comes in for Kevin Boyle. With Athenry goalkeeper Michael Crimmins excused duty ahead of the All-Ireland club final, the position is likely to change again.

"We want to take a look at all three," said Murphy, "and give them at least two games each. It's the same with defender Declan O'Brien. He's come on as a sub in the last couple of games but if we want to get a look at him, it has to be now because he's going away with an AIB team to Australia."

Declan O'Brien is named at half back instead of Nigel Shaughnessy who picked up an injury against Offaly and aggravated it against Clare.

All-Ireland champions Cork have varied the selection for the visit of Laois to Pairc Ui Chaoimh. After having a free Sunday in the last round of the league, manager Jimmy Barry-Murphy has decided to give starting places to a couple of last summer's higher-profile panellists, Alan Browne and Kevin Murray, both of whom made significant impacts when coming on as substitutes throughout the campaign.

They come in at full forward and right corner forward, respectively, with Ben O'Connor and Sean McGrath dropping down to the bench. The other personnel change is also in the forwards where Brendan Coleman comes in for Timmy McCarthy who drops back to centre-field to replace Mark Landers who pulled a hamstring in the last league outing against Kilkenny.

All-Ireland captain Landers hadn't trained since then until this week but is fit enough to take his place on the bench.

"Ben O'Connor and Seanie McGrath are playing very well at the moment but we've decided to rest them and give the other lads a run," said Barry-Murphy. "It's important to get a look at a number of players during the league." He also welcomes back Sean O hAilpin who missed the Kilkenny match because of an injured shoulder. He too takes his place among the substitutes. His place at half back is again filled by Derek Barrett.

Opponents Laois make three changes to the team which was also beaten by Kilkenny - albeit more comprehensively - in the their last outing. Anthony Coffey is injured whereas Barry McEvoy and Eamonn Fennelly are relegated to the replacements.

Coffey's place goes indirectly to Andy Bergin, established as a half back but who comes in at centre-field. Robert Delaney reverts to his club position at half back with Eoin Browne moving to corner back in place of the versatile PJ Peacock who lines out at left corner forward.

Ollie Dowling is back in the team at centre forward after missing the Kilkenny match, reportedly because of illness. Enda Maher, making his first competitive start, is the other change and lines out at left half forward.

Limerick introduce a new goalkeeper, Tim Houlihan, for Sunday's visit by Offaly and they have selected regular full back Brian Begley at full forward.

Houlihan has impressed with his club Adare and with Joe Quaid injured, is given his chance. Jack Foley is named at midfield alongside Clem Smith, and Brian Geary returns to the half-back line. Ciaran Carey is out through injury.

Tipperary make two changes for the match against Wexford in Enniscorthy. Donncha Fahey comes in at right corner back in place of Paul Ormonde while at left half back Noel Morris from Loughmore, a former under-21, replaces Fergal Heaney.

Opponents Wexford welcome back Gary Laffan for his first league appearance of the current campaign in the absence of Martin Storey (injured) and Tom Dempsey (on holidays). Pierse Redmond from the Oulart-the-Ballagh club makes his debut at left corner forward.

Clare will field without the St Joseph's contingent. Their match with Antrim on Saturday is likely to see the return of Frank Lohan and David Fitzgerald who have been abroad. Lohan is likely to line out at full back as his brother Brian has a hamstring injury.

DJ Carey will return to the Kilkenny team when it is announced tomorrow.

This Sunday's match between Wexford and Tipperary will be broadcast live on TG4.
