Garryowen won the latest all-Limerick clash at Clifford Park yesterday but they were hard pressed to hold out in a hectic finish.

Garryowen made the perfect start with penalties by Jamie Gavin after two and eight minutes. On 36 minutes Brian Haugh opened the Young Munster account with a penalty but on half time Aaron McCluskey had a Garryowen try which Gavin converted to make it 11-3.

Two minutes into the second half Haugh kicked a second penalty but three minutes later Garryowen were awarded a penalty try. Gavin popped over the conversion and then added a penalty to make it 21-6.

On the hour Young Munster had a try, credited to Luke Russell as the pack drove over from a maul and Haugh landed a penalty to earn a losing bonus point.
