Robert Giles, who helped Ireland to win the PGA of Europe Team Championship last December, is returning to England to become head professional at the 102-year-old exclusive private Romiley Club in Cheshire.

The York-born 28-year-old returns to his native country on Monday.

"This is my first real job and I'm excited about it," said Giles, who won both the North of England and the Irish Assistants' Championships. "I have really enjoyed my time in Ireland and would have loved a club job here, but they are very scare. As well, the retainer I am getting at Romiley is about twice what I'd get in Ireland."

Giles spent three years as assistant to Tony Coveney at Killarney before moving north to Warrenpoint where he was assistant to Nigel Shaw.
