Glamis can leap into the Epsom Derby picture with success in today's Group Two Grosvenor Casinos Dante Stakes at York.
Trainer John Gosden knows what it takes to win the classic, having scored with Benny The Dip in 1997, and he says of Glamis: "He's a well-balanced horse and we've won the Derby with a Silver Hawk already and I think he's the kind of horse who can go and run well."
A useful juvenile, he has progressed well over the winter and bolted up at Kempton first time up this season, hammering Peace of Mind by five lengths. He was then slightly disappointing in the Thresher Classic Trail, failing to overhaul Fantastic Light and Dehoush and going down by a short head and a length and a quarter.
But as Glamis was not given the most positive of rides, he can be expected to improve for it fitness-wise.
