WORLD CUP QUALIFYING: Ireland's Michael Hoey and Gareth Maybin carded a final round 71 to book their place in the Omega Mission Hills World Cup, to be played in China, on November 22nd-25th.

The Irish pair finished on 10-under-par 274, just one shot behind leading qualifiers Puerto Rico at the Tierra del Sol Resort.

The Puerto Rican duo carded a final day two-under par 69 in foursomes to finish the week at 11-under par 273.

A best-of-the-day 68 vaulted Colombia's Gustavo Mendoza and Jorge Benedetti into third at nine-under par.

Paraguay, carding a 72 yesterday, Italy, 72, and Venezuela, 71, finished in a tie at eight-under-par after a dramatic series of events that forced a play-off hole to decide the final two berths. With Venezuela bogeying the 73rd hole, both Paraguay and Italy carded pars to secure the trip to the China.

LET TOUR: Laura Davies produced a vintage performance to end a 14-month wait for a title at the UNIQA Ladies Golf Open presented by Raiffeisen in Austria.

The 43-year-old from England added a final day six-under-par 66 to her previous rounds of 69 and 65 - (which was a new course record) - to claim her 36th European Tour title and her 68th in total.

She finished on 16-under-par 200 after 54 holes, four strokes ahead of Sweden's Sophie Gustafson in second.

France's Virginie Lagoutte-Clement (71, 69, 69) and England's Kirsty A Taylor (72, 68, 69) finished tied for third on seven-under-par. Rebecca Coakley shot a final round of 72 for a one-over-par 217 total.

SENIORS TOUR: Spain's José Rivero closed with a battling two-under-par 70 to claim his third European Seniors Tour title at the Charles Church Scottish Seniors Open at Marriott Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club in Edinburgh.

The 52-year-old former Ryder Cup player from Madrid started the day with a three shot lead over Scotland's Ross Drummond and South Africa's Bobby Lincoln after opening rounds of 70 and 66 but had to work hard to withstand a late challenge from Drummond before clinching a single shot victory with a 10-under-par 54 hole aggregate of 206.

Drummond's nine-under-par aggregate of 209 saw him finish four shots clear of third placed Englishmen, Bob Cameron and Nick Job, while first round leader, Costantino Rocca from Italy, struggled with a painful hip injury and had to settle for a level-par round of 72 and a three round aggregate of 212,

Denis O'Sullivan was best of the Irish on level par 216 after a final round of 69. Eamonn Darcy finised on two-over-par after a 72, Jimmy Heggarty on 218 after a 72 and Liam Higgins on 235 after a 78.

CHALLENGE TOUR: Scotland's Peter Whiteford overcame a nerve-shredding final round to secure the first European Challenge Tour victory of his career and set up a golden opportunity to win a place on The 2008 European Tour with victory at the Dutch Futures tournament in Holland yesterday.

Whiteford, who took a staggering nine-shot lead into the last round, resisted a final charge from Frenchman François Delamontagne to close out a two stroke victory at the Golfclub Houtrak on the outskirts of Amsterdam with a fourth round 73 for a 13-under-par 275 winning total.
