Stepping in after others declined to travel, Harrington brings authority, experience and most of all enthusiasm and heart to Rio. Fortunate to have a three-times major champion stepping into the unexpected void, Harrington hopes to emerge in the top three of 60 players in the 72-hole strokeplay event. While he languishes at around 150 in the world mark, he is known as a competitor who still believes that big wins are within his grasp. He was also one of the top players who campaigned hard to get the sport back into the Olympic roster.
