Waterford welterweight Neil Gough beat Anoushiravan Noorian of Iran in the World Senior Boxing championships in Budapest yesterday to ensure a place in the quarter-finals. Gough won 10-9 in a tough contest.

He now meets one of the favourites for the competition, the Russian Olympic gold medallist Oley Saitov, this afternoon for a place in the semi-finals.
