Bray Wanderers 0 Sligo Rovers 0:ALAN GOUGH produced a virtuoso display in goal at the Carlisle Grounds last night making five saves to earn Bray Wanderers a point. Wanderers' Sligo-born skipper Alan Cawley might have won it for Eddie Gormley's side five minutes from time but his drive came back off the crossbar.
Earlier, on 72 minutes, Gough made the save of the game. Sligo's Romuald Boco threaded a ball through to David McDaid but Gough parried away the shot.
Gough and his opposite number Richard Brush kept the scores blank at the break with a string of saves. Brush pushed away a Gavin Whelan shot from four yards. Gough twice saved headers from Boco and Richie Ryan before again thwarting Boco after 22 minutes.
But it was back to the other end with Brush making the stop of the half on 37 minutes after a mistake by Danny Ventre.
Aidan O'Keeffe found Pat Kavanagh who weaved past two defenders only to see his low drive saved by the feet of the big Englishman. A one-two with McDaid had Boco in on goal again within a minute and again Gough did well to clear with his feet.
