Galway Golf Club reached another milestone in their 103-year history when Billy and Rita Grealish were elected Captain and Lady Captain.
They became the first husband and wife to achieve this at the club. The Grealish partnership, Billy with a handicap of eight and Rita with a handicap of nine, have been staunch supporters of GAA and golf in the county for many years. Billy, a former manager of the local GAA club Carnmore, currently chairs the course development sub-committee while Rita was a member of this year's winning Connacht Shield team as well as being a member of the Senior Cup panel. The office of Lady Captain will not, however, be new to Rita Grealish, who was Lady Captain of Loughrea Golf Club in 1979.
