Disgraced goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar could be hit by a FIFA ban after English officials flew to Zurich to press for worldwide action. Grobbelaar - branded corrupt by an English judge last week at the end of a marathon legal battle - could even face a life ban from the sport.

David Davies, the English FA executive director, met FIFA officials in Zurich on Wednesday to present a dossier on the Grobbelaar case and to press for worldwide action.

Queens Park Rangers' plum English FA Cup tie against Arsenal at Loftus Road tomorrow has been overshadowed by the sudden serious illness of Steve Burtenshaw.

Burtenshaw, who was caretaker-boss at Highbury before taking full responsibility at QPR in 1978, is currently chief scout with the Loftus Road outfit.
