NEWS ROUND-UP:A 7.30 INSPECTION at Sandown this morning has been described as a "precautionary measure" but while there is confidence the Tingle Creek Chase meeting will go ahead Big Zeb's trainer Colm Murphy remains concerned about the ground conditions.

Big Zeb has been ante-post favourite for the Tingle Creek all week but Murphy admitted yesterday: “It is unfortunate the ground is as soft as it is. He acts on it but is better on better ground.

“A lot has been made of his jumping but there is an argument that the Railway fences at Sandown might make him concentrate more.”

Barry Geraghty has chosen Big Zeb over the other Irish hope, Forpadydeplasterer, who will now be ridden by Tony McCoy.

Forpadydeplasterer’s trainer Tom Cooper reported yesterday: “I’d say Sandown will suit him. The Railway fences take a bit of jumping and that plays to his powers. I’m not disappointed Barry picked Big Zeb. He has to do what he thinks is right for himself and AP isn’t a bad sub – he’s the best.”

Cooper will also have an eye on today’s home fixture at Navan where Lucky William can get his jumping career back on track in the maiden hurdle after a disappointing effort at the track last time out.

Lucky William managed only sixth to Ballymak last month but should do better for that experience.

Today’s most valuable race at Navan is the €28,500 Proudstown Handicap Hurdle where Operation Houdini is a massive 24lbs higher in the ratings for his course and distance win last month.

A test of stamina like this though will also suit the former Troytown winner Cane Brake.

Monday’s scheduled fixture at Wexford was called off yesterday due to waterlogging. However, Horse Racing Ireland confirmed yesterday an additional fixture at Cork will take place on Tuesday week (December 15th) to replace the November 16th card that was lost due to waterlogging.
