Drogheda Utd 0 St Patrick's Athletic 2:DROGHEDA UNITED brought the curtain down on a miserable season when they lost out to Europe-bound St Patrick's in an earnest and entertaining encounter at United Park.
The Saints, a goal to the good at the break, sealed their win with a second shortly before the end as the home side couldn't even manage a consolation score on their final home appearance.
The visitors, with the benefit of a gale, took the lead just short of the quarter-hour mark when former United player Keith Fahey drove an unstoppable shot from a good 30 yards past Paul Skinner.
Fahey then sent a free from a similar distance just past the post, and set up Ryan Guy moments later, who guided his header wide when he really should have doubled the advantage.
Twelve minutes from time Guy finally capitalised on his chance when he picked up the ball on the left of the Drogheda box, turned Shaun Maher inside out and rattled a shot past Skinner to the net.
