Handicap allowance will again be the main topic for discussion at the annual general meeting of the Leinster Branch of the GUI at Westmanstown Golf Club tomorrow night. Three clubs, Carlow, Slade Valley and Newlands have motions on the agenda to have the handicap allowance in fourballs increased to the full handicap from the present three-quarters. Leinster voted in favour of the full allowance at last year's a.g.m., but the motion failed at the GUI Annual General Meeting annual general meeting in February. Other motions for discussion include one from Courtown "that all matches in the Irish Mixed Foursomes be played off scratch" while Tullamore are proposing that the number of .1s a player can receive be limited to 25 in any one year. Tullamore are also proposing that in the Barton Cup, Provincial Towns Cup, Irish Junior Foursomes and Mixed Foursomes be zoned geographically to reduce the amount of travel.

The chairman for the past four years, Paddy Murphy, will hand over to Mullingar's Albert Lee. Murphy will take up the position of President elect of the GUI while Lee's place as honorary secretary of the Branch goes to Barry Doyle. Fintan Buckley from Hermitage will move into the honorary treasurer's position. There will be no vote for positions on the branch committee - Castlewarden's John Ferriter is the only nomination for the vacant position.
