Women's Intermediate Final - Tipperary 0-14 Clare 1-08:TEN points from Edel Hanley paved the way for Tipperary to claim their first women's football All-Ireland title since 1980 yesterday following an inspired second-half display at Croke Park.
Paddy Morrissey's charges held Clare scoreless in the closing 19 minutes as they firmly signalled they weren't going to let a rare All-Ireland slip from their grasp.
Despite Majella Griffin taking a superb goal from 30 metres on the restart for Clare, the Premier County weren't to be denied with superb scores from Hanley and half-back Siobhan Costello ensuring victory.
Clare had looked threatening in the first half - the sides were level at 0-5 apiece at the break - but in the second period, Tipperary tightened up considerably in defence, as well as midfield which was anchored by Angie McDermott and Mairéad Morrissey, daughter of the team manager. It was third time lucky for Tipperary against their Munster rivals this year.
