It was a family affair in the lady captain's (Mai Maher) prize at Ballybunion with Sighle Henigan beating her daughter Michelle on countback to win after both had shot 34 points. The previous day Cathal Henigan, Sighle's son, won the Members' Cup when he beat Tom O'Donnell in the final. The Quinns scored a double in the president's (Monica Clerkin) prize at Rossmore with Mary Quinn winning the women's prize with a 70 and her son Sylvester taking the men's prize with a 65 off a 10 handicap. Michael Kelleher was another double winner at Clane Golf Club. Michael won the nine-hole matchplay earlier in the year and added the club's singles matchplay to his list of honours when he beat the captain, Eamonn Howlin, 3 and 2 in the final.
