Alex Higgins failed to appear for his first qualifying round engagement in the World Championship at the Norbreck Castle Hotel, Blackpool, yesterday. Higgins was due to begin a best of 19-frame match against Oxford's Justin Buckingham at 10.0 yesterday morning. When he failed to turn up his opponent received a walk-over.
