UCC opened the defence of their Student's European Cup title with a comfortable win over Exeter University at The Mardyke last night. The Cork students were in control from start to finish as they totally overran an Exeter side who could scarcely believe what was happening.
It had all started so brightly for Exeter when John Fabian kicked them ahead after eight minutes but their celebrations were short lived.
Tries from Colin Healy and Paul Barry and a couple of kicks from Feargal O'Gara saw the Cork side turn over 17-12 to the good.
They continued to apply the pressure on the resumption and further tries from Harry Casey, Brian Cahill and John Fitzgerald saw them run out convincing winners.
