Alex Ferguson and Johnny Giles were among scores of personalities at the funeral of Billy Bremner yesterday. The former Leeds United and Scotland midfielder was cremated at Rosehill Crematorium near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, after a service at St Mary's Church, New Edlington, where hundreds of fans stood outside in silence to listen to the Mass. Father Gerry Harney told a packed church he once saw Bremner score a goal from 40 yards against Celtic in the semi-final of the European Cup. He said: "The throng went wild with joy, an immortal moment."
