Raymond Hurley (22), opened his training account in style at Listowel yesterday when Runaway Renegade landed the Shannon Car Ferry Maiden Hurdle.
The four-year-old, who carries the colours of Lisselan Farms, travelled strongly to lead in the straight for a facile, four length win from Prince De Loir.
Sarah Lane, of Lisselan Farm, said: "He was trained in Florida by John Nazareth, and we were a bit worried about the ground today. He will take his chance now in the Champion Hurdle at Punchestown."
Arthur Moore and Conor O'Dwyer combined for a double with Papo Kharisma and Tyndarius. Papo Kharisma will be sent to the Doncaster Sales next month after finally opening his account in the Maid Of Erin Maiden Hurdle, while Tyndarius survived an inquiry into possible interference at the final flight when touching off Captain O'Shea VI by the minimum margin in the Triton Showers Handicap Hurdle.
David Casey captured the feature race for the second consecutive day when Corriblough stayed on well from the home turn to beat Strong Hicks by five lengths in the John J Galvin Handicap Chase.
