Rockwell, the champions two years ago, qualified for another Munster Schools Junior Cup final when they defeated Crescent in an exciting game played in perfect conditions at Ennis yesterday.

Rockwell got off to a great start when flanker Stephen Mee went over for a try after five minutes and Morgan Lyons converted. Gradually Crescent came back into the game and were rewarded for their industry just before halftime when scrum-half Kevin McEvoy landed a penalty.

Lyons put over a Rockwell penalty shortly after the break, but the gap was reduced to a single point when McEvoy kicked a couple of penalties from long range for Crescent, who enjoyed long passages of supremacy but were unable to add to their total. Rockwell came again and made sure with an opportunist try by their lively scrum-half, Gerry Hurley.
