Hunt gets ban
Stephen Hunt has received a one-match ban following his straight red card in the Euro 2008 qualifier against the Czech Republic last week in Prague.
He will miss the Republic of Ireland's tie with Germany at Croke Pak on October 13th.
Ireland's new deal
Stephen Ireland has signed a new five-year contract with Manchester City.
"I am delighted to commit my future to Manchester City," the 21-year-old Republic of Ireland midfielder said. "The last week has been extremely difficult for my family and I but it is a terrific boost to sign a long-term deal."
Under-16s lose
A 5-2 victory gave Turkey their second win in a row against the Republic of Ireland under-16 team in a friendly at Izmir yesterday.
The visitors goals were scored by Conor Murphy, who drove a shot high into the roof of the net from 30 yards out, and George Landais, who buried a low shot into the net.

Scolari hit for four
The Portuguese Soccer Federation has said it will hold an emergency board meeting next week to discuss coach Luiz Felipe Scolari's four-match suspension by UEFA.
Brazilian Scolari has apologised for lashing out at Serbian player Ivica Dragutinovic after their 1-1 draw in a Euro 2008 qualifier.
Meite's timely strike
Bolton rode their luck in their Uefa Cup clash with Macedonian side Rabotnicki in Skopje last night, securing an equaliser thanks to Abdoulaye Meite's first goal of the season. It came seven minutes from time and may just act as a catalyst to kick-start their troubled season.
Meanwhile, two great saves denied Aberdeen victory in their first round, first leg clash with Dnipro at Pittodrie.
Andrew Considine and Chris Clark saw shots beaten away by Vyacheslav Kernozenko early in either half of the clash.
