Ireland swept to the Boys' Home International title over the Royal North Devon course at Westwood Ho in majestic style yesterday. They brushed aside Wales 10-5 in their final match in the round robin series to collect the imposing R & A trophy for the first time.
An emotional Irish captain, Jimmy Greene, said "I feel totally elated. This is the first time that we have ever won the Triple Crown and I am so pleased for the boys who have given so much to Irish golf."
Yesterday Ireland took the foursomes 3-2 and Shandon Park's Robin Symes and David Carroll finished with unblemished records winning all six games over the three days.
