At Highbury, Irish under-21 midfielder Barry Quinn, starting his sixth game of the season for Coventry, earned praise for his display in the 2-0 defeat, while Ian Harte scored his fourth goal of the season for Leeds in their 4-1 win over Derby at Elland Road.

Division One: David Connolly came on as a second half sub for Robbie Keane in Wolves' game at Barnsley and scored with his first touch in the 77th minute. Wolves went on to win 3-2, having trailed 2-0. Bradford's Gareth Whalley scored the decisive goal in his team's 3-2 win away to Bristol City.

Division Two: Sean Devine capped his Wycombe debut on Saturday with a spectacular second half goal, but it counted for nothing in the end in a 2-1 defeat by Reading. The Irish B international joined Wycombe on loan for the rest of the season from Barnet last week. Steve Finnan, currently on standby for the Irish senior squad, scored Fulham's third in a 4-0 at home to Blackpool.

Division Three: Kevin Nugent, who won youth caps for Ireland in the late 1980s, is back on top of the Irish scorers' list after his two goals for Cardiff against Exeter brought his season's tally to 19 (including Welsh Cup goals). Current Irish under-21 Barry Conlon scored Southend's consolation goal in a 2-1 defeat at Darlington.
