Tennis: Britain's Tom Spinks heads the seedings for the Men's Irish Open tennis championships at Templeogue on Monday where a prize fund of £13,500 is available for the Dolman sponsored event. The seeding is based on ATP world rankings which means that Ireland's John Doran and Owen Casey come in at four and five respectively. South African Vaughn Snyman is second seed.

Tennis: Of the 30 matches played in the boys under-18 singles in the Irish Junior Open Tennis championships at Fitzwilliam yesterday, only three went to a final set. One less went the full distance in the senior girls event. Conor Niland of Limerick confirms his position as top seed with every outing and it was no different in yesterday's semi-final against Brian Condren who was afforded only one game.

Equestrian: Japan brought Ireland's unbroken run of success at the Millstreet International horse show to an abrupt conclusion yesterday afternoon when 27-year-old Yuko Itakura, making her debut at the Co Cork venue, stamped her authority on the jump-off for the Waterford Crystal stakes.

Cycling: Willie Curtin displaced his Ireland team-mate Denis Lynch as leader of the Junior Tour last evening. On the 45 miles fourth stage at Stamullen Curtin was second to Erwin Oosterbosch of Holland with Lynch's twin brother Daniel third but Curtin leads by two seconds from another member of the Dutch team, Ruud Kooymans, going into today's Wicklow stage.
